Coming of age
Kavka

Kavka is a premium barrel-aged Polish vodka with a rich, resonant back story steeped in tradition. Founded by renowned London based restaurateur Jan Woroniecki, the name harks back to Poland’s prohibition period, when Kavka (Jackdaw crow) was used as code for securing an illicit tipple.

Yearning for vodka with a depth, complexity and smoothness rarely found in modern spirits, Woroniecki’s creation projects a big, confident character and an authentic brand feel inspired by classic Polish woodcuts.

We were tasked with developing a line extension for Kavka’s new cask-aged variety, based on the traditional ritual of filling a “Tokaji” cask with spirits on the birth of a daughter and then burying it to uncover (and drink) on her wedding day.

We strategically tweaked the existing design elements, simplifying and reducing other graphics to elevate the Jackdaw front and centre. Subtle use of gold foil, matte and gloss paper finishes create contrast against the deep, oaky tones of the cask-aged vodka.

Extending the traditional woodcut theme, we created a box illustration to narrate the Tokaji story and bring it to life. Rendered in luscious gold foil on matte black card, it’s a fitting way to showcase a premium product with such a unique and specific brand story.
