Forgotten Fruits
Kavka Orchard

Kavka is a premium Polish vodka with a rich, resonant back story steeped in tradition. Founded by renowned restaurateur Jan Woroniecki, the name harks back to Poland’s prohibition period, when Kavka (or crow) was used as code for securing an illicit tipple.

Inspiration: Woodblock illustration by Polish artist Adam Killian

Inspired by Polish tradition and a time when every town, every distillery and every vodka was unique. The Kavka Estate Orchard design takes inspiration from the historic town of Sandomierz, an orchard paradise, where generations have grown delicious fruit, of both forgotten and modern varieties of apples, pears, stone fruit and berries which are distilled to create distinctive fruit spirits.

Using the original vodka design as our starting point, our brief was to create a more colourful, vibrant label with fruit flavour cues. We worked with a local Polish artist using linocut illustrations of orchard fruits and overlapping blocks of colour which can be found in traditional Polish art and poster design. The beautifully imperfect texture of the hand-made print gives the design a feeling of authenticity and craftsmanship.
